Labours taxes should they be fiscally neutral? "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

Labour say the National Party are using scare tactics regarding whether Labour will tax New Zealanders more. But despite being asked a number of times, Jacinda Ardern has so far refused to put the matter to bed and commit to reducing other taxes to compensate households for the new taxes Labour still want to introduce. A Second Chance For Labour To Put Things Left. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

Victory Lies Ahead, Comrades! Allowing the Greens to make the case for change; assessing the force and quality of the Rights objections; and then, following a period of extensive consultation, fashioning a suite of reforms acceptable to a solid majority of New Zealanders. Such is the royal-road to making Labour the dominant force in New Zealand politics.

ITS NOT OFTEN in electoral politics that a party is given a second chance to get it right. In 1999, Labour and the Alliance (with the Greens more-or-less in tow) were gifted the chance to craft a political relationship that could have grown into a near-permanent lock on New Zealands still-new MMP electoral system. That neither partner in the Labour-Alliance coalition had the wit to seize, or even understand, the opportunity before them is a testament to the woeful immaturity of the New Zealand Left.

Perhaps the best way to describe the opportunity missed by Labour and the Alliance (and, after 2002, the Greens) is by deploying a military analogy.

Think of Labour as a large army marching through enemy territory. (The analogy works best if the army youre imagining is a nineteenth century one think of Napoleons Grande Arme, or Robert E. Lees Army of Northern Virginia.) The much smaller army of the Alliance is spread out well ahead of Labours line of march. Its role: to reconnoitre the territory into which Labour is marching; noting the disposition of the enemys troops; their strongpoints; and the places where their defences are weak and vulnerable to attack. Should the enemy encounter the smaller force, the resulting engagement will give the larger army plenty of time to prepare its defences.

For a while, it looked as though the Labour-Alliance combination had decided to work in precisely this fashion. The radical pol...

I like not this poll, bring me a better one "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

And lo, a better one was brought:

1 NEWS / Colmar Brunton Poll results for tonight, Thursday September 14
Labour Party      44% (last week - 43%)
National Party    40% (last week - 39%)
Green Party        7% (last week - 5%)
NZ First             6% (last week - 9%)
TOP                  2% Steady
Maori Party        1% (last week - 2%)
ACT Party          0.6%

Ooh, this one has a Labour/Green government not needing any other coalition partners.  I like this poll much better!  Too bad an individual poll isn't worth anything, I guess - this one would be a keeper if they were.

How much more do you want to pay for food? "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

Homepaddock

We dont know all the details but we do know that a Labour-Green government would impose new taxes on farming:

Green Party and Labour Party policymakers want to hit dairy farmers with a trifecta of environmental taxes that could cost an average of $18,000 per year for each farm, and for those farmers that draw water for irrigation the cost would be in excess of $63,000 per year, says DairyNZ chief executive Dr Tim Mackle.

But unlike winning the trifecta at the horse races, theres nothing for New Zealands dairy farmers to celebrate, says Dr Mackle.  Our economists calculate that the proposed carbon tax would add an average of $6,850 to each farms costs, the nitrogen pollution tax would add $11,232 per farm and then theres Labours proposed water use tax which would add a further $45,000 average for farms irrigating.   He notes that of New Zealands 12,000

I Can't Work Out......... "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

........ how Jacinda Arden thought she could win an election by taxing the shit out of middle NZ.

Can any student of political history point to the last time a western democracy elected a leader on a platform of a vast array of new taxes, the amount of which would all be decided after the election?

Yes, I know the election is still a couple of weeks away and the writing on the wall so far is 'only one poll' but the riddle remains unanswered.

I have a theory.

I reckon it's the poofter coward plotter up to his old tricks.  Remember how he was in like Flash Gordon to nominate the filly as Labour leader?  After she lost the election, he was going to slide effortlessly into the leadership and be assured of an easy win in 2020.

Of course, never in a million years did he think her popularity would take off the way it did, so he suddenly needed to knock her down a peg or two.  What better way than to persuade her that his taxation policies are election winners?     Aaaaaaaaah.   All he has to do now is sit back and wait for the post election caucus meeting at which he can move for a spill on account of her losing the unloseable election.

Mind you, the unions might have something to say about that mightn't they?

Hell, with any luck they'll reinstall Little.

This Is Still A Fight: Some Thoughts On The Newshub-Reid Research Poll. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

Enough of "Let's do this", Jacinda. It's time to say "Let's do them!" Labour thought it could bluff its way through this election with warm fuzzies and vague promises. They assumed that these would be enough because the electorate has grown weary of the National Government. Well, the Newshub-Reid Research Poll has reminded them in no uncertain terms that this is still a fight.

FIRST OF ALL, its just one poll. And, one poll does not a Labour election loss portend. RNZs Poll of Polls which averages out the results of the three or four most recent polls, presents a considerably calmer picture. In a nutshell, National and Labour are level-pegging; NZ First and the Greens are drifting dangerously close to the 5 percent MMP threshold; the Maori Party looks set to take two seats; Act just one; and the rest (including The Opportunity Party) simply arent in the race.

Even so. The latest Newshub-Reid Research Poll has delivered a pretty solid kidney-punch to the Centre-Lefts morale. What had begun to feel like a smooth escalator ride to certain victory has been brought to a sudden, stomach-lurching halt. The Nats are sitting pretty on 47 percent enough, with the Greens out of the running, to let them govern on their own.

The cynical genius of the Crosby-Textor pairing has armed the National Party with a pretty serviceable baseball bat and they are swinging it hard. Frustratingly, that Nat bat has been carved out of Labours errors. In a fine example of Crosby-Textors standard operating procedure. Nationals fightback strategy zeroes-in on Labours point of maximum vulnerability: their MPs abiding fear of stating clearly what it is that they intend to do and how they intend to pay for it.

Instead of responding to Nationals Lets Tax This jibe with a resounding Hell, Yeah!, Jacinda has been persuaded to double-down on the Little-led Labour Partys keep it vague until the el...

Yet again Ele summarises key issues in this campaign. Concern over Labours wedge political strategy and their attacks on key drivers of our economy and the rural sector may well explain last nights TV3 result, which while devastating for Paddy Gower was good news for others.

Those of us who live in the real world and talk to people who work very hard for their living and own small businesses know just how they are worried by Labours tax plans which appoint to confiscation of effort and of negating aspirations to get ahead.

Labour seeks to increase inequality not to reduce it. Many of their measures are based on envy of effort and of success.

LIKE HELL WE NEED SUCH RUBBISH. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

In yet another "captains call" the NZ peoples princess is now promising to set up a new TV station using the nest of socialist vipers presently inhabiting Radio NZ as the basis.
As if state owned and funded TVNZ is not doing a splendid enough job already in advancing the progressive agenda

Does this little country needs any more fake news purveyors? of course not
The pretty little thing wants it modelled on the BBC and the ABC although so far has not told us whether it is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation presently federally funded with over a billion tax dollars a year, or the US one.
I suspect the former as it does such a splendid job of advancing progressive politics. It was a serious factor in the  demolition of Tony Abbott but is somewhat restrained in its attacks on Turnbull as he is deemed almost acceptable. No surprises  there.

New Zealand is smaller than Yorkshire or Queensland in population, and needs for another state funded and politically directed  television network are nonsensical.
Will any media person presently employed either by state or commercial entities critiscise, of course not, they will only see expanded opportunity to do the socialist bidding as they train for the lucrative jobs as media managers to get the message out whether as  copy writers or presenters.

The Australian Broadcaster is very biased towards socialist crim hugging, Islam supporting ideology and totally in the pocket of the union dominated ALP.

In serious defiance of its charter obligations to be fair and balanced,  it is a rare event to hear a right of center opinion and when they do succumb to a minimal degree of possible even handed approach there is a veritable cavalry like panel to launch attacks on the hapless person before any damage occurs.

Do we need it, no, but when it comes to pass they could use excerpts of Ardern's address to the World Socialist Youth (Communist) gathering as Chairman in 2009 one year after she became a NZLP list MP, as introductory footage.
After all by then she will be well on her way to succeed President Helen Clark as "President"of the most successful agricultural source of food for the world, as it follows the nation with the largest petroleum reserves into liquidation.

THE DIFFERENCE IS?? "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

For well over a decade the Media Party and their socialist army in many guises spent many hours fruitlessly trying to make capital over John Key's actions in 1981 when under a rather inept Muldoon Government tried to manage the entirely lawful Springbok tour that the leftwing, unions and fellow travellers manipulated as a cause with mostly illegal opposition to deny a massive number of loyal NZ citizens their civic rights.

Key was graduating Canterbury University in 1981 BCom to then go to work and it was entirely possible he was not either in favour or in opposition to the Rugby team from a country a lot less racist than the wet dream of Socialists c2017 and an incomprehensible attitude to Southern Rhodesia now Zimbabwe under a murderous thug called Mugabe.

So many hours and hours in pursuit of nothing by way of evidence!

Back the bus up six years and in 1975 National used a video of dancing cossacks in a campaign targeted at a real fear of Communism. A bit of history that is still denounced today as rather over the top electoral tactical effort entirely appropriate in those days before Thatcher and Reagan convinced Gorbachov to tear down that wall.

Today Whaleoil in a post on Leighton Smith put up at 0800 hrs with Smith trying to buck the trend that Jacinda is a breath of fresh air and a new approach to politics with a very revealing Video of her addressing a socialist youth gathering.
In seven minutes and eighteen seconds the lady of the moment is heard to reveal herself with fifteen uses of the word Comrade, many attacks on "Neo liberalism" and calls to advance the socialist army in its assault on western democratic values.

That was in 2009 and she was a Labour List  member of the NZ parliament from 2008.

The action to use The 1981 tour as a weapon against Key was three decades past and almost beyond  memory for any realistic evidence,  this little bit of blatant communist fervour is within living memory for all voters yet while many know of its existence it is graphic evidence that will never make it to the corrupt MSM in their Media Party Campaign c2017.

Let's Elect A Progressive Government With The Politics Of Addition - Not Subtraction. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

The Politics Of Addition: The objective of all intelligent and compassionate citizens entering the polling-booths between now and 7:00pm on 23 September cannot be as narrow and sectarian as dragging the neoliberal Labour Party leftwards. The most important task, at this crucial moment in our countrys history, is for progressives of every ideological persuasion to provide both Labour and the Greens with the votes they need to take New Zealand forwards.

THE BIG QUESTION confronting progressive voters in this election is: how do they elect a genuine centre-left government? Is this best achieved by abandoning the Greens and delivering the entire progressive vote to Labour? Or, should at least some progressive voters step off the Jacinda Train and re-board the Greens thereby delivering Labour a reliable and ideologically compatible coalition partner? Neither of these options are as politically straightforward as they seem. Predicting the behaviour of our friends can be every bit as difficult as anticipating the actions of our foes.

Perhaps the most reliable barometer of voter intentions is RNZs Poll of Polls (PoP). The most recent of these puts the Greens on 5.4 percent perilously close to the 5 percent MMP threshold. Even if all of this support flowed to Labour, currently at 41.8 percent in the PoP, however, the result (47.2 percent) would be insufficient to land it on the Treasury Benches. And, of course, not every last Green voter would abandon their party for Labour, making it even less likely that Labour could form a centre-left government on its own.

The veteran left-wing activist, John Minto, is very clear about how progressive voters should resolve this problem:

In the current political situation only the Green Party has a realistic chance of dragging the neo-liberal Labour Party significantly to the left in a post-election government. Without the Greens, Labour will tinker here and tinker there, while lea...

To Remain The Same, New Zealand Must Change. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

It's Time! The cumulative effect of New Zealand politicians' twenty-year failure to keep strong a generalised faith in the possibility of a better future, has been to set up an election this election in which victory will be claimed by the political leader who convinces a majority of New Zealanders that if they want their country to remain the same, then everything will have to change.

NEW ZEALANDERS REQUIRE a lot of persuading to embrace change. Its a bitter truth for radicals of every stripe to swallow, but New Zealand is an inherently conservative country. Understanding the reasons why Kiwis are so anxious for things to stay the same is, therefore, the essential first lesson for those seeking to change them.

The most important driver of conservative attitudes is having something to lose. Thats why the clich, theres nothing more dangerous than a person with nothing left to lose, is wrong. The most dangerous people in the world are not the dispossessed, but those who believe their possessions are about to be taken from them. The defining emotion of human-beings who have lost everything is despair. The emotions that define those who believe they are about to be dispossessed are fear and rage very often murderous rage. Its the reason why revolutions almost always descend into civil wars.

Herein lies the paradox for the change-makers. Their best chance of radically reforming society comes when those teetering on the edge of poverty or even of becoming appreciably less affluent convince themselves that theyre on the point of falling. It is among those most anxious about slipping down the social hierarchy that the promise of a particular kind of change resonates most strongly. The political movement and/or party that comes up with a programme of change which reassures the economically and socially vulnerable that their lives will stay the same is onto a winner.

One of the quirky aspects of New Zealands political culture is the degree to which its citizens factor-in the contribution...

A BEAUTIFUL PERSON, MAYBE TO SOME?. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.nz"

I do not subscribe to the too often quoted assessment that Taxinderella is a beauty.
Nice hair, yes, a smidgen of youthful skin, yes again but those teeth and the substantial ears when the hair is pulled back, then it is the beauty to be reserved for parents and close relations.

Of course when lined up with the usual bunch of females who inhabit so much of the socialist landscape revelling in unfortunate degrees of the attractive  while largely eschewing the clear advantages of makeup, I guess Ardern has some assets on view.

To base the suitability as elected leader of the New Zealand increasingly fragile democracy on a warped view of beauty is shallow in the extreme but situation normal for a media that is drowning in a deficit of ability.

That said Ardern has a wonderful modus operandi to avoid anything that could reveal her astonishing lack of acumen as to what makes for a successful western democracy to function, with glib use of vague responses and clearly efficient communication skills in the face of an unquestioning media.
Her use of tears when confronted by a large number of shoes outside the Parliament to represent the country's less than admirable suicide rate was masterful but when viewed against other campaign tactics was revealed as shallow and artificial in light of the truth as I understand it.
When coupled with the alarming extension of abortion to far greater foetal development and the removal of that very fraught killing of the unborn from the crimes act then a faux regard for life so well expressed in the  staged shoes event is nonsensical, unethical and totally manipulative.

"Lets do this together" is another unchallenged facet of the Labour campaign to be revealed as  rather tawdry; with the divisive activities around ageist attacks on benefits and taxation, the destructive attitude to rural and provincial sectors, her outright bribery of students while making things harder for young entrepreneurs wanting to just go to work and succeed, making saving and growth  of personal asset creation dirty words and activity to be taxed out of any chance of a  successful result.
Suddenly "together" becomes a massive misrepresentation of what will continue this country's progress in an increasingly challenging real world of commercial success that has delivered under the management of the last nine years

An accurate campaign slogan for what is happening under the new brightline test could well be;
"lets restore equality by making everyone equally poor", that folks is what we have in store should shallow and incompetent become the focus.
